Leroy’s history

Collection

Leroy's story begins in 1905, when the area was organized as a Local Improvement District. In 1913 it became the Rural Municipality of Roach, named for James Roach, at whose home the meetings were held. The next year it was renamed the RM of Ayr. Early on, the district had the Bogend Post Office, opened in 1905, and Bogend School, which followed in 1907.
